When old meets new

With the 29er class warming up for their World Championships at the end of the month and the vintage 18 foot skiffs preparing for a commemorative regatta against the New Zealanders in January, sailing the two fleets in close proximity was bound to end in disaster.

Thinking that the vintage 18 footer on port would get out of his way, the Japanese 29er cuts it close. Unfortunately for him, the skiff's options are strictly limited and the bowsprit of the skiff just catches the mainsheet on the 29er.

Firmly hooked, the 29er can now only await the inevitable.

With the rigs well and truly tangled, things are starting to look bleak for the skiff as well.
