Volvo Car UK, in conjunction with the VX40 Class, is offering readers of TheDailySail the opportunity for two people to sail on a VX40 on the morning of the 1st June in Portsmouth, followed by a VIP lunch at the Volvo Pavilion on Spinnaker Tower, Gunwharf Quays, then watch the VX40 grand prix racing in the afternoon.

The competition is for one lucky reader to win both places (so you can bring your mum etc) and is only open to readers of TheDailySail. It will be a potentially spectacular day - a full VIP day out - right in the thick of the action the day prior to the Volvo Ocean Race departing on their next leg.

AND you and your guest will sail aboard a VX40!

The Volvo Extreme 40 has been created to fill a huge gap in Grand Prix sailboat racing. The 40 foot catamaran designed by Yves Loday and created by Mitch Booth with one thing in mind "ACTION ". The concept is a simple easy to sail, light weight, full carbon fibre weapon. The boat will fit inside a normal 40ft shipping container on its own road trailer. Assembly is quick (around 6hr for 3 crew) and then just add water for instant fun. The crew consist of 4 +1 non participant, this is to allow a sponsor, owner, media person or guest to participate in one of the most exciting forms of sailing ever. The boat is estimated to reach speeds of 35kts on flat water in around 20-25knts wind. They will also fly a hull in as little as 8knts giving the best visual impact in all round wind conditions. http://www.volvoextreme40.org
