The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club will host the second Inter Club Commodores' Forum from 26-31 May.
Sixteen yacht clubs from 10 countries around the world have already confirmed their berths at the 2006 Forum and it is expected that at least 30 international clubs will ultimately take part.
Commodore of the host club, Inge Strompf-Jepsen, said: "The world is getting smaller and a lot of international regattas are taking place. With that in mind we would like to get clubs together to exchange ideas that concern us as yacht clubs. With a vast array of interesting topics to choose from it was hard to narrow them down to the three finally chosen." These are:
Strengthening International Ties
Sailing and its Role in the Community
Youth Sailing and Programmes
"The Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club in Australia have already asked to give a presentation," continued Strompf -Jepsen, "and an invitation has been extended to all other participating yacht clubs to do the same. This is a wonderful opportunity for yacht clubs around the world to come together in one location."
The five-day agenda is not only packed with the Forum itself and related social events, but also the inaugural Commodores’ Forum Cup which will take place in Hong Kong's vibrant Victoria Harbour and which will raise money for a local charity.
