Hamble Yacht Services, located at Port Hamble, has launched the first Dry Stacking and Dry Sailing service available on the Hamble River. It is designed specifically for motor boats up to 45ft.
These new Dry Stacking facilities complement the company’s current Dry Sailing facilities.
Dry Stacking and Dry Sailing has become increasingly popular with boat owners. Originating from the United States it provides an efficient and cost effective service for boat owners. Lifting boats in and out each time they are used, prevents salt water deterioration and potential damage from pontoons or moorings, as well as reducing the need for antifouling and bottom paint. In addition, HYS has provided a number of ground level maintenance cradles so any work required on boats can be easily completed whilst off the water.
HYS will operate a seven day a week service from mid March to October, and customers simply need to call ahead giving at least one hours notice for the boat to be lifted into the water. Bookings are now being taken and demand is particularly high due to the great location.
“Dry Stacking and Dry Sailing not only keeps boats in better condition,” says Malcolm Hearnden, of HYS, “but it also offers owners considerable cost benefits. By keeping the boat out of the water the need to regularly remove fouling from the bottom of the boat is avoided. The customer has a clean hull, fuel consumption is reduced, and this also helps lower costs.”
