Tacktick launch new solar powered remote control

Thursday October 13th 2005, Author: Media/TheDailySail, Location: United Kingdom

Not just a remote control, the Tacktick Micronet Remote Display is an independent, wireless, palm sized display unit as well as remote control. The dot matrix screen not only shows you all the data from the full onboard Micronet electronics system, it also functions as a full remote control for the Micronet Maxi display units (due to be launched in January 2006).

The Micronet Remote Display uses solar power to run it and so there are no batteries to replace, and the unit can be fully sealed and watertight giving it great reliability. The new Remote is available in black or white finish and as many remotes as are required for crew members can be added to the system. In addition the Tacktick Remote Display, when used in conjunction with the Universal Wireless Interface, can transmit all the data from onboard Raymarine, B&G, Silva or any other brand electronics and navigation equipment.

Commenting on the launch on the Micronet Remote Display, Clive Johnson, Joint Managing Director of Tacktick noted; "Tacktick customers already understand the advantages of solar power and want a remote that uses no batteries enabling the unit to be totally sealed and watertight for greater reliability. Now all boat owners can experience the ‘wireless’ concept by using the Tacktick Remote in conjunction with our Universal Wireless Interface, to receive all their onboard navigation data on their Tacktick Remote display."

Tacktick will be exhibiting at Mets, Amsterdam from 15th-17th November 2005 in the British Pavilion on stand number 03.301.
