New launch from Dubarry

Performance marine footwear manufacturer Dubarry has announced the launch of theSkipper, the latest style to be added to its Extralight® range, which is 25% lighter than most other deck shoes.

This super lightweight, traditional style deck shoe is designed to offer the best in non-slip performance and comfort both on the water and on shore. The Skipper weighs in at just 330g, due to Dubarry’s Extralight® sole which is made from injection moulded EVA (Ethyl Vinyl Acetate). The EVA sole also provides more shock absorbency, making it more comfortable for wearers.

The Skipper benefits from Dubarry’s proven non-slip soles. This patented design is based on Formula One car tyres, and has a series of interconnecting channels. This allows water to be dispersed away from the point of impact in several directions at the same time, thus preventing slippage or aquaplaning, even in the most extreme conditions.

The Skipper is made from Pittards high performance WR100 Mirapel® leather, which has been tanned with a water resistant treatment. Water drops off the leather without being absorbed, so your shoes stay drier and lighter. The hand stitched roll top moccasin-style front is also sealed to keep out water.

Thanks to the water resistant properties in the leather, Dubarry shoes are designed to endure repeated wetting and will dry more quickly than other leathers, while still retaining their shape and flexibility.

Inside the Skipper there is a soft foot pad for extra comfort, while the strong leather lace around the shoe can be adjusted for a tighter or looser fit. The Skipper also features a Drilex® patch, designed to help ventilate the foot and draw moisture away from the inside of the shoe.

The distinctive Dubarry port and starboard flashes set off the range of colours available including nubuck and leather versions in brown, dark brown, mahogany, navy and navy/brown. The Skipper is available in European size 41-47 (UK size 7-12).

Available through marine chandlers and retailers, the Skipper retails at £90.
