Marten Yachts, the Auckland based builder of Americas Cup yachts and custom raceboats such as Kingfisher, and Mari Cha III has today announced the first order for the second boat in the new Marten Yachts Range. Following hard on the heals of their ground breaking Marten 67, the Reichel/Pugh designed Marten 49, will be seen in British waters at the beginning of next season.

By combining the talents of designers Reichel/Pugh, the skills of design engineers at SP Technologies with the experience of Marten Yachts, a luxury racing yacht of outstanding pedigree, possessing race-bred performance qualities with a spacious, functional layout has been produced. The Marten 49 is intended for the owner who wishes to combine the sparkle and excitement of a performance racing yacht, with the ability to make fast comfortable passages whilst short handed or whilst cruising.

It is differentiated from other yachts in its class by its detailed design, Americas cup type construction methods and use of materials that combine to provide superb performance and unrivalled functionality. The M49 includes details such as full carbon fibre construction and a lift keel for improved draft and performance when racing and reduced draft for accessibility to harbors and anchorages when cruising. The yacht will also have a modern clean deck layout with pop-up cleats and flush carbon hatches to compliment the overall design and performance standards that the Marten Yacht range aims to establish.

As with the first boat in the range, the Marten 67, Marten Yachts are finally offering something more than the traditional cruiser racer, with a yacht that provides engineered exhilaration.
