The end to smelly shoes

Contained within its own absorbent pouch, Dampire® is a powerful, chemical ‘sponge’ that effortlessly dries anything from boots and sports kit to tents and leather without the damaging effects of heat. Dampire® was originally developed by British commercial divers to combat the effects of moisture, condensation, damp and perspiration inside drysuits and has been tested in the harshest imaginable environments.
Residual moisture in kit be it foul weather gear, but particularly boots and sailing shoes, provides an ideal environment for bacteria, mildew and other fungal growth. After a short space of time this starts to smell and can lead to infection. It also results in fabric degenerate, shortening the life of the kit.
Like a modern day Silica pouch, by simply dropping a Dampire® pouch down the legs of your drysuit or leaving the pouch in your kitbag the hydrophilic (water loving) compound will absorb all the moisture and the problem is solved. After each use just pop the pouches on a radiator, in the oven or even zap them in the microwave and they’re ready to go again and again and again (they’ve got a two year guarantee).
Charles Hood of Dive Magazine took the Dampire® pouches on a week-long diving trip and is a convert, “Normally, I would try to turn the whole suit inside out and find a suitably warm room in which to get it dry. However this time I suspended the two Dampire® sausage-style bags midway down each leg and hung my suit out overnight in the garage. The next morning, amazingly, I found that the drysuit was dry as a bone.”
Dampire® has an RRP of £24.99 and is available from Typhoon retailers around the country. To find your nearest Typhoon retailer or to get more information on Dampire® and any other Typhoon products contact Dave Carr at Typhoon on 01642 486104 or see their website.
