Trevor Baylis rates James Spithill and the OneWorld training programme
Obviously James Spithill is a real talent. But, also- OneWorld's in-house race program must be the real deal if Spithill can come out of it in this fine a form. Seems as though most drivers come out of the AC testing world pretty rusty, he didn't. Trevor Baylis

Jeff Bailey is excited by the sound of the proposed IL Moro Trophy
Wow That sounds fantastic. I was able to see these ACC boats up close in San Diego in 1995. When you see these boats from 10 feet away in the pre start, going fast, you just want to have the chance to sail on one.I for one will be at lease 1 of these regatta's in the future. Jeff Bailey

Tom Sidaway gets his kicks from a completely different approach to racing, the San Pelligrino Cup
I think they are to be commended on such a fun approach. Did you have to prepare the dish whilst racing or upon completing? When sailing down at Lymington Town SC recently, I was particularly impressed by their bath regatta - I would love to know the results ( perhaps you should cover it).

RORC's recent amendments to regulations regarding Life Jackets has elicited these comments from readers.
Jane Hunter believes decisions should be made within each boat
When did they decide that skippers and crews cant be trusted to make their own decision when to wear lifejackets and harnesses. Was there any consultation with members or other competitors? And hey, what about skin cancer? Can we please have a rule forcing us to wear sun hats, shades and factor 25 lotion whenever the sun is out? Come on RORC, we need protecting!!

But Howard Gale believes these rules have been a long time coming:
At last some clarity on the life jacket issue which has plagued RORC events for years. They will no doubt find that some people will require clarity on when the 25 Knot rule is to be enforced. Is it to be if it is 25 knots before the 5 minute gun and who will determine it. Are we required to put life jackets on while on a beat or part way though a potentially hair raising run where maximum concentration is required. And what if the wind speed fluctuates. I am not trying to be awkward just pointing out that this may not have solved the barrage of questions before the start of a race. It is how ever a step in the right direction.

Trevor Baylis believes the ISAF World Sailing Games is merely a power play
Another goofy play by ISAF to control the sport. Here is an event that was made up by some committee is a smoke filled room with the intent to establish the same sort of control over the rest of sailing that ISAF has over the Olympics. By diminishing all the other World Championships by all the other classes, it makes ISAF's control much stronger, and therefore ISAF becomes even more threatening. Trevor Baylis
