It was announced at the e-peopleserve British Nautical Awards 2001 that madfor sailing.com was the winner of the prestigious Sealine Marine Media Award.
Not only is this the first time the award has been won by a website, but madforsailing.com was picked ahead of tough competition from the world renowned photographer KOS and her giant 20x20 book and Yachting World's superb coverage of last summer's America's Cup Jubilee Regatta.
madfor sailing.com, were shortlisted several months ago by the panel of nine judges, chaired by Peter Nicholson, and including Rod Carr, Sarah Donohue, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, Shirley Robertson, Jonty Sherwill and John Walker, for "providing up-to-the-minute, original and creative reporting in the sport of sailing to 'blue water professionals' and 'club racers' alike. An established source of key worldwide sailing news and features, in a single month, www. madfor sailing.com hosts over 50,000 unique users and receives over 750,000 page impressions."
After the judges made their short list the final result was opened up to the public and decided by votes.
James Boyd, editor of madfor sailing.com, together with Peter Bentley, Sian Cowen, Andy Nicholson and madforsport's Managing Director Tony Harris, collected the award at the event hosted by TV presenter Emma Forbes.
The team at madforsailing would like to thank the judges and all those who voted for us.
