KOS's giant book

Kos, who made her name as one of the top marine/sports photographers in the world will be displaying her book during Southampton International Boat Show at the New Holiday Inn Hotel.

‘20x20’ is one of the largest marine books ever published, in both content and sheer enormity. Designed as an interactive piece of art, the books opens to
1 meter wide, weighing nearly 10kgs. There are over 144 pages of full colour images on 250gsm fine art paper and tectonic translucent material. The binding is in itself a work of art in black carbon fibre and hand-sewn.

The book - which is the largest carbon fibre book in the world - is being printed as a limited edition with only 1000 copies available. Each book has been individually numbered and signed by Kos.

His Royal Highness the Aga Khan has written the forward to the book. The main section of the book depicts vibrant images of varying forms, from reflections to human endeavours to the most abstract marine images. The book also portrays those anecdotal moments of Kos’s life both on and off the water - shooting from the masthead of a capsizing yacht, working with the McLaren Formula 1 team, dodging explosions on the Thames during the filming of the last James Bond movie and, in a more serious vain, locating land mines in Bosnia.

Kos comments: "The book has been an enormous challenge. My ambition was to produce a work of art to celebrate my 20 years as a marine sports photographer. I wanted to do something completely different and to feature the 'Art of the Oceans'. The sea is a moving canvas that changes by the millisecond and I have strived to show its every aspect. The size of the book has been of major importance as the pictures need to be seen large so that they can be fully appreciated and I am delighted with the result"
