Vendee Globe - 1030 - 6/2/01
Tuesday February 6th 2001, Author: Mark Chisnell, Location: United Kingdom
The forecast for Thursday morning (right) indicates that the Azores High is forecast to move back eastwards to its more normal position.
Ellen and Desjoyeaux will be easily able to outrun it, and stay in the westerly breeze to its north. It may be harder for Jourdain and particularly Thiercelin to escape its movement completely, and they may not see the fast speed build of the leaders.
We can already see in this forecast another low pressure system building a head of steam up over Newfoundland, and this is the system that has been forecast to create such wild conditions in the Bay of Biscay as the leaders finish.
