Would someone ever attempt Cape Horn in a 12m? Yes........!!! I remember in Newport way back when Ted Turner stated he was doing a transatlantic in his 12 meter
American Eagle he was the laughing stock of the docks and everyone said it was his death wish. History tells he was right and the dockers were wrong. Properly equipped accrued 12 meter should have no problem down south and around the Horn.

What do you think about the choice of the Yngling as an Olympic boat? Like many boats/classes the Yngling is attracting so called informed comment from many sailors who have never set foot in one of these boats. My father imported the first Yngling to the Uk in the late 60's and I spent many hours of my youth on this fine little boat. I was pleased to read Sam's comments as I myself found this boat sensitive to sail and it taught me many things about boat tuning. As for the droop hike position many hours later spent in a Soling are now remembered as some of the best sailing of my life even if it was wet and challenging to check where one was going. Good luck to Shirley and Sam and others who take up the challenges offered by this fine little boat.

A good championship? What a fantastic result for Paul, he is obviously a long way ahead of his rivals, but what has happened to the Class that used to be the strongest in the UK ? Take yourself back to 1989/90 when the Laser Class would attract 250 plus entries from all over the world to an event at Paignton in Devon . Has the "Olympic" ideal killed off the heart of the Class? Perhaps the Ainslie's and the Goodison's are just too good? From a "has-been" Laser Sailor who is now far too fat, and far too far over the hill.
