Volvo feedback

What do you think the result will be?
illbruck have done a fine job in preparing themselves and their boat for the Volvo Ocean Race. After rounding Trindade, it was not at all a foreclosed matter that they would win this leg. They had to use all their skills and reserved to recover the lead. Even if found to have wronged with the web-site and/or the weed cutting device, it would mean splitting hair. Neither "deed" has given
illbruck any measurable advantage. Condemning them now for more than a fine would be out of proportion in comparison with 30 days of tough sailing the North and South Atlantic.

How have illbruck got them selves in such a mess? As a yacht race "it is what it is" and the weed cutter and faring are not what won Illbruck the first leg. The whole web-site issue is another story. But you must look at who was a few hours behind, did the exclusively accessible website really give Illbruck the winning advantage? I doubt it.

How have illbruck got them selves in such a mess? Anyone who has raced against Kostecki over the years knows of his all out desire to win at any costs couple this with the fact that what they improvised was a Kelp cutter so they would not have to stop the boat and remove kelp, thus possibly gaining a small advantage. This modification is common on the west coast of the united states where kostecki is from. but these device are commonly used on keels. if infact the modification was made after the boat was measured the Illbruck should be disqualified from the leg.
