Yngling try-out weekend
Tuesday January 30th 2001, Author: Tessa Pelly, Location: United Kingdom
The RYA has been developing its plans since the November ISAF meetings and would like to announce that we will be running a keelboat fleet racing taster weekend, in conjunction with the Island Sailing Club, Cowes, on the 17-18th March in Cowes. Sailors will participate in groups of three and each boat will sail with a provided coach as the fourth person.
Sailors can apply as a unit/team or as individuals and both helms and crews should apply independently. Eight crews of three will be invited. Further weekends will be arranged based on demand and performance. A Yngling Olympic Development squad will be formed early in the April-June quarter of 2001. Although the squad will be quite fluid initially, as things settle the RYA has a comprehensive World Class bid in for this activity and it will be an advantage to be involved at the beginning.
The RYA is also planning to book building slots for two or three Ynglings now, as we believe that delivery will become an issue. World Class squad members will have priority on taking over those slots. If you're interested contact Stephen Park, Bill Edgerton or Tessa Pelly at the RYA for further details: 023 8062 7437 or email: tessa.pelly@rya.org.uk .
