What’s your date of birth? 12th October 1979. Which sailing club do you belong to? Lee on Solent Sailing Club. Your sailing teammate’s name/boat name? Matt Howard and we're Team TACK TICK. Where did you first meet? On the bus to school. Where and when did you first sail together? Seafarers SC four years ago. What’s your best regatta result sailing together? BOSS national Champions 2000. Any other notable regatta wins together? BOSS inlands, BOSS Eurocup. And are currently 49er under 21 National Champions. Who owns the boat you are currently sailing together? Me. What do you do together off the water? Training, kick-boxing, mountain biking, drinking, women. What other interests or hobbies do you and your teammate share apart from sailing? Women, mountain biking, pool. What’s your next sailing ambition together? To make the Gold fleet in the 49er Worlds 2001. What’s your strongest attribute as a team? Personal strength and determination. What’s your teammate’s greatest fear when out on the water? The forestay. What’s the greatest strength in your teammate’s sailing? Strength. What’s the greatest weakness in your teammate’s sailing? Strength and his eyes! He’s only got one that works. What aspect of your teammate’s character do you like the most? The cheerful, nothing will get us down, let’s get on with it attitude. Everyday’s a new day! What aspect of your teammate’s character do you dislike the most? He snores and farts. He says it’s a medical condition. He’s always half asleep! What do you most envy about your teammate? I would have said his girlfriend but he’s no longer with her!!! It’ll have to be his carefree little world. What’s the one thing most likely to get your teammate angry on the water? Me spotting an awesome chick that he can’t see 'cause of his eyes! What’s the biggest mistake your teammate’s made when you’ve been sailing together? Putting the kite up on the 49er in 30 knots of breeze. When you’re at a regatta, who’s first in the shower when you get back to your accommodation after sailing? Me, Matt usually gets lost on the way back to the apartment. Who cooks when you’re staying in self-catering accommodation at a regatta? Me. Who buys the first round in the pub you or your teammate (or another crew altogether?). Me. Who does most of the work preparing the boat for sailing? Depends who's working. What’s the one thing that your teammate would least want you to tell us about them?! The problem he had down under last year, I still catch him scratching every now and then but he says the clinic says it’s gone!!! Any notable incidents to tell us about at a regatta? Kiel Week - the incident being the whole of Kiel Week. Breakage after breakage after breakage! The only thing that kept us sane was my Visa card and German lager! |

What’s your date of birth? 18th August 1980. Which sailing club do you belong to? Stokes Bay SC and Lee on Solent SC. Your sailing teammate’s name/boat name? Mark Asquith. Where did you first meet? National Schools Sailing Association Regatta at Calshot. Where and when did you first sail together? Lee on Solent, March 2000. When did you decide to sail together as a team? March 2000 What’s your best regatta result sailing together? Boss National Champions 2000.49er under 21 National Champions. Any other notable regatta wins together? Not yet, but watch this space. Who owns the boat you are currently sailing together? Mark does. What do you do together off the water? Train in the gym and have a few lagers. What other interests or hobbies do you and your teammate share apart from sailing? Mountain biking. What’s your next sailing ambition together? To achieve 'D' level funding. What’s your strongest attribute as a team? Boat-handling. What’s your teammate’s greatest fear when out on the water? Breaking his boat. What’s the greatest strength in your teammate’s sailing? He's really smooth on the helm. What’s the greatest weakness in your teammate’s sailing? He gets VERY upset when his boat breaks. What aspect of your teammate’s character do you like the most? His sense of humour. What do you most envy about your teammate? He owns his own business so when we go sailing during the week he's still earning money! What’s the one thing most likely to get your teammate angry on the water? His boat breaking and it being my fault. What’s the biggest mistake your teammate’s made when you’ve been sailing together? We were training with Simon Hiscocks and Chris Draper and Mark had embarrassingly rigged the spinnaker pole so it only went half-way out. When you’re at a regatta, who’s first in the shower when you get back to your accommodation after sailing? If it's during the winter then it's me, I run faster. Who cooks when you’re staying in self-catering accommodation at a regatta? It's safer if Mark does, I have a history with flammables. Who buys the first round in the pub - you or your teammate (or another crew altogether?) That's pretty much shared. Who does most of the work preparing the boat for sailing? That's pretty much shared too. What’s the one thing that your teammate would least want you to tell us about them? He's really a women. Any notable incidents to tell us about at a regatta? During Kiel week we only managed five out of the twelve races. We broke EVERYTHING, we even had a 49er shaped hole in the jib. |
