The Durns buoy near Lymington shoreline will be a port of call today for the larger class O and 1 boats. For many this is also the final day of race preparation for the start of the Fastnet race due to start from the Squadron line at Cowes at 1600 tomorrow.
Class 2, 3, 4, 7, and X332s are predicted to round the Hampstead Ledge buoy off of Yarmouth shoreline between midday and 1300. The class 10 Bowsprit boats are expected to round the Elephant buoy at 1352.
The Sigma 33s, Contessa 32s ,classes 5 and 6 should round Saltmead buoy between 1300 and 1330 . The Etchells, Melges 24 and Hunter 707s are due to round the Meon buoy off the Hill Head coast from Midday to 1300.
The Royal Southern buoy a little further off of Hill Head will be the best place to view the final days racing for the classic keelboat classes. Darings, Dragons, Sonars, Sonatas, Sunbeams, Swallows and Mermaids are expected to round between 1300 and 1400.
The coast behind Gurnard Ledge buoy will be the best viewing place for the class 8 today at 1450, while the Flying 15s, XOD, Squib and Victorys are expected at West Bay buoy at 1230.
The wind is predicted to be light west-south- westerly 8-10 knots building to 12-16 knots later in the afternoon .
