Brits hold top four slots

Difficult conditions continue at the Kuehne and Nagel Moth European Championship in Italy

Wednesday May 1st 2013, Author: James Boyd, Location: Italy

The English crews flexed their muscles today at the Kuehne and Nagel Moth European Championship taking place in Masala, Italy, and ended the day holding the top four positions with Chris Rashley scoring two bullets in the two races that have so far managed to be held.

The Brits are followed by the Swiss in terms of speed and consistency while the first Italian sailor is Volvo Ocean Race sailor Stefano Rizzi in 11th.

This morning racing started in a 12-14 knot southerly, but on the first leg the wind shifted 90° into the west with lulls on both sides of the race course.

The second race was once again shifty, but the wind disappeared during the third lap and the race committee chose to cancel the race.

In the afternoon another start was given but in a similar manner to the morning, the wind proved really unstable. The wind built for a third race which will count for the championship.
