Sibellos into pole
Italian brothers Pietro and Gianmarco Sibello have taken the lead after day three of the 49er Europeans in Gdynia, Poland. Today's racing were held in exhilarating conditions with the wind around 15 knots but gusting into the mid-20s.
In the conditions only two races could be held and they were both won by the Sibello, who have now jumped into first place overall, but just one point in front of Britain's Stevie Morrison and Ben Rhodes with Chris Draper and Pete Greenhalgh holding third one point further astern. Yesterday’s leaders Nico delle Karth and Nikolaus Resch from Austria posted a 8-dnf today when they broke their forestay.
Today was the last racing in the qualification series with the fleets dividing into gold, silver and bronze, for the final will run from tomorrow until 10 July.
