Performance dinghy hardware manufacturers Holt, has presented The John Merricks Trust with a cheque for £650. It raised this money by matching the voluntary entry fees paid at its ‘Blow Boat Challenge’ held at the Sailboat and Windsurfing Show at Alexander Palace in March.

Over 200 kids took part in the Holt Blow Boat Challenge. The aim was to design a craft to race against the clock along a 3-metre length of water filled guttering; only human wind power was allowed to propel it from one end to the other.

Holt provided official blow boat kits, which contained items such as balsa wood, sticky tape and a kebab stick and string! Competitors were asked to make a donation towards the John Merrick Sailing Trust for their kits, with Holt matching all the money collected.
