MadforSailing takes a quick look at the Solo

Classic single-hander, designed by Jack Holt in 1956, that has remained very popular in the UK, Holland and Australia.

The fully battened sail is quite powerful but the comfortable cockpit layout and simple controls have ensured its popularity with a wide range of crew weights.

A double-chined hull design available in plywood, GRP or composite construction. The mast is stayed with center-main sheeting and the cockpit provides relatively pleasant hiking.

The class association organizes a very full UK open circuit and there is a close relationship with the Dutch association.
