Laser medallist tests the breeze in the ISAF World Sailing Championship venue

The venue at the Bay of Cadiz continues to be populated with some of the best racers in the world, who have come to the waters of southern Europe to test out their equipment and who, through training, can acquaint themselves with the local sea and
wind conditions prior to the ISAF World Sailing Championships 2003, from the 11-25 September.

Latest arrival to Cadiz has been Brazilian Robert Scheidt. The two times Olympic medallist and six times World Champion in the Laser Class, has also had the honour of being named Rolex Sailor of the Year 2001. He arrived at the base in Puerto Sherry, Puerto de Santa Maria, accompanied by fellow Laser sailor Spaniard Luis Martínez Doreste, a sailor from the Canary Islands, who holds 16th place in the ISAF rankings.

The great friendship that unites these champions has brought them together to train at different events, on previous occasions.

Scheidt arrived in Cadiz from the SPA Regatta where he won first place six times out of 10 races.

Aside from Doreste Scheidt will also have the opportunity to race other Spanish competitors such as Julio Torres and Javier Hernandez, who in Cadiz preparing for the next Kiel Week, starting this Saturday.
