Holt in merger talks

Holt to link up with Allen Brothers

Tuesday October 15th 2002, Author: Julie Latta, Location: United Kingdom
UK performance hardware manufacturer Holt is currently in advanced merger talks with Allen Brothers Limited, its manufacturing arm for more than 40 years. The joint venture of Holt Allen has been one of the longest standing alliances in the marine industry.

It is anticipated that the merger of both companies will enable Holt to continue to move ahead with its dynamic product development programme; this has seen it revolutionise its performance dinghy hardware range over the last three years. In addition to the sales and distribution of it’s own hardware (Holt hardware, marine prepacks, YS fittings) it represents leading brands in the marine chandlery market such as Tacktick, PSP Tapes, Clamcleat and Samson Ropes. It currently trades with 95% of marine chandlers in the UK.

At the end of November Holt is moving its warehouse from Wandsworth, London next to the Allen Brothers factory in Essex. Explains Chadwick Beecher Moore, Holt’s Managing Director: “This move will improve the links between manufacturing and distribution with the impending merger. It makes a great deal of business sense to centralise our operations in Essex while strengthening our sales operation with new sales offices in Putney, London and Hamble on the south coast.”

“We are very excited at Holt about the opportunities that lay ahead for us and feel certain that these current developments will strengthen our presence in the marine market,” he concludes.
