Albacore - In Brief

MadforSailing takes a quick look at the Albacore, a traditional dinghy built to a one-design rule

One-design originally in hot-moulded wood construction, now available in GRP, composite or foam sandwich construction. The strong build means many good second-hand boats are available.

The Albacore is raced as a two person sit-out boat but the deep roomy cockpit also allows it to be used as a family day boat.

There is a small UK racing circuit and the boats are popular club racing boats, being easy to handle and quick to plane.
