The last open meeting before the Nationals was a closely fought affair. Dougal Scott and Ruth Johnson set the pace in the first race, rounding the windward mark with a significant lead. The rest of the fleet worked hard to close them down but they were never pushed. Sarah Richards and Nigel Wakefield were best of the rest, followed by Mark Ampleford.
The second race saw Richards/Wakefield make a clean start from the favoured end, followed by Richard and Jenny Bennett. These two boats remained in the lead for the whole race.
The fleet were greeted by windier and choppier weather on Sunday morning. Scott/Johnson got to grips well with the fresher conditions and won the race. Mark Ampleford crossed the finish line second only to be cruelly adjudged OCS. Richard and Jenny Bennett were promoted to second, with Richards/Wakefield 3rd.
The event was still open between Scott/Johnson and Richards/Wakefield going into the last race, Richards/Wakefield needing a win. These two opened a large gap on the rest of the fleet, but it took until the windward mark before Richards/Wakefield took the lead, which she held to the finish.
