A fleet of 26 Larks were greeted by bright sunshine and steady southeasterly, force 2 at an event held jointly with the National 12s. As ever the racing was extremely close with five different race winners!
In race 1 Harry Pynn & Oliver Woolgar won out over Alan Krailing & Pauline Baker with Mathew White & Claire La Forge closing in quickly for 3rd.
Race 2 saw Richard & Jenny Bennett and Jon Fish & Gemma Thompson break away early on. They were joined in a tight battle up the second beat by Sarah Richards & Nigel Wakefied, rising through the fleet quickly. The Bennetts took line honours only to be adjudged OCS leaving Richards/Wakefield to take the win from Nigel Hufton & Chris Whitehouse with Krailing/Baker 3rd.
After Saturday night¹s disco the fleet arose bleary eyed to another scorcher with a light sea breeze filling in at around midday.
Race 3 saw Steve Dunn & Tegwyn Roberts breaking away early to build a comfortable lead which they held to the finish. In a close race with Richard Dowsett & Steph Calvin, White/La Forge went on to take 2nd.
Hufton/Whitehouse lead in race 4 but an incredibly close finish saw Krailing & Baker steal it on the line with Martin Gillam & Matt Griffiths 2nd and White/La Forge 3rd.
The final race saw Dowsett/Calvin building a comfortable lead from Richards/Wakefield. Krailing/Baker came through on the last beat for 3rd, which was enough for them to seal the event.
