Holt has conjured up a fun competition for younger sailors visiting this weekend’s Sailboat and Windsurfing Show – The Holt Blow Boat Challenge. This model making competition will take place throughout the weekend in the RYA’s Gybe Zone area.
Youngsters wishing to take part can purchase their official Holt blow boat kit, which contains items such as balsa wood, sailcloth, string and a bbq stick, to be used to design a Blow Racer. Kids then pitch their designs against each other by racing them against the clock along a championship drainpipe course, powered only by human wind (mouth preferred!).
Because of popularity in previous years, Holt has limited the number of kits to 300 – which will be handed out on a first come first serve basis. Competitors are asked to make a minimum donation of £1.00 to the John Merrick Sailing Trust. There will be three ‘Big Blow Off’s’ on each day with approximately 50 boats making up a fleet.
Winners of each fleet will be presented with a Holt goodie bag and a prize will be presented to the weekend’s overall winner.
Holt is hoping to provide plenty of fun for everyone at the show and give some of the younger sailors some tips on the principle of boat design.
