Snipes are relatively rare in the UK, but thousands are raced and sailed in the rest of the world. Despite this some of the most competitive boats are built in the UK. The old design criteria means that the hulls last a long time and are lightly stressed.

They have very forgiving handling for beginners, but racing is very tactical and to a very high level internationally. Boats are available built in plywood, GRP and composite construction.
