Light airs continue

Second day completed at Expert Olympic Regatta Garda

Warm sunny conditions, but light air, greeted the sailors competing in the second racing day of the Expert Olympic Garda 2004 – Eurolymp. The so-called "Ora", the typical southerly breeze of Lake Garda, didn't reach its normal strength and by 3.30 pm it had already started to die, exactly like yesterday.

In the afternoon the Race Committee was able to complete only one race, while during the morning the northerly breeze Peler enabled the competitors to sail some good races.

In the 49er fleet, Italian brothers Pietro and Gianfranco Sibello are leading ahead of Luca and Manuel Modena (Italy) and Ruegge - Steiner (Switzerland). The Sibello brothers, already selected for Athens 2004, have five victories and one loss.

In the 470 fleet, Stanczyk - Jakubiak (Poland) are leading with a second and two fourth placings. They are followed in the overall rankings by Fonda - Zucchetti (8.4.1, Italy) and Buchberger - Nicodemi (5.5.3, Italy).

In the women's 470 fleet, Dekleva - Maucec (8.2.2, Slovenia) are leading ahead of Vogl - Flatscher (2.3.7, Austria) and Saccheggiani - Cultolo (3.4.5, Italy).

In the Finn, Trujillo (Spain) is leading with a fifth and first placing, followed by Viali (4.2, Croatia) and Adakan (1.6, Turkey).

In the Yngling, Stegenwalner-Grunow-Koschinsky (2.3.3.1, Germany) are leading ahead of Giakoumidou-Dimitrakopoulou-Mantzaraki (4.5.4.7, Greece) and Skudina-Lartseva-Krutskih (5.2.2.12, Russia). The Italian crew Conti-Baroni-Marenzi (7.11.1.4) is fourth.

In the Star, Heiner-Breuseker (2.7.1.3, Holland) are leading 3 points ahead of Italians Bruni-Antar Vigna (1.9.5.1); former world champion Roberto Benamati (Italy) is in third place (16.2.10.2).
