Another sunny day

Day three of the UK Lark National Championship was won by Emma Harris and Becky Priest

Championship Village awoke to another warm day with mist over the bay at the UK Lark national Championships. Racing was postponed for an hour when the racing area became clear of mist with a steady North-East force two.

Race three or the championship was initially led by overnight leaders Jeremy Stephens and Ellie Bremmer but they were called OCS. The lead was taken on by Chris Fish and Beth Condie despite being confused about not being able to see the gybe mark due to a RIB getting in the way. Matt White and Harri Steer pushed Fish and Condie all the way. Fish and Condie were a little confused at the finish and White and Steer having read the sailing instructions took their opportunity to win from Fish and Condie. Fish and Condie are currently protesting the Race Committee…

Further down the fleet, but only slightly, were Silver Fleeters Dan Watson and Harri Condie who are putting together their most impressive campaign yet. Another top ten placing was sufficient to make them pathfinder for race four.

Watson and Condie took full advantage of being pathfinder to lead for the first lap of the race before a group of boats stole past on the next beat. The race was eventually taken by Emma Harris and Becky Priest with Chris Whitehouse and Jane Alexander in second and defending champs Steve Cumley and Birthday Girl, Eluned Jones in third. Watson and Condie continued their Silver Fleet dominance with a tenth place.

The Bronze Fleet is currently led by Jamie Mayhew and Tom Power with an 18 point advantage over Rob and Ruth Marlow.

One thing is for sure it is going to be a high scoring regatta and anybody could win this champs. Last nights Duckham’s dress, was won by Chris Whitehouse for a lobster pot incident from a fortunate Nigel Scott who was involved in the same incident!
