Big breeze

The second day of racing in Palamós saw big breeze conditions keeping sailors ashore until the Committee could set the courses for the day’s races. The first classes to complete races were the Finn and 470 in the morning. When the wind dropped in the afternoon, the Laser, Laser radial and 49er fleets sailed two races in courses close ashore.
The leadership in the Finn class is still for Spanish sailor Àlex Muscat finishing third in the only race sailed today. British sailor británicos Giles Scott won today’s race and is second overall. Third place overall is still for Ukranian sailor Oleksiy Borisov (FOND).
A day of capsizes in the 470 fleet with a win for the Qingdao 2008 Olympic diploma team Onán Barreiros /Aaron Sarmiento from Spain that are also the leaders of the overall standings. Second classified in today’s race was British team Luke Patience/Chris Grube (Miller) and third were Austrian sailors Matthias Schmid/Flavian Reichstaedt . Second and third overall are French teams Alexandre Rossignol/David Boudgou (Asptt) and Berenger Balezeau/ Mathieu Fountaine (SRR) respectively.
German leadership remains also in the 470 women fleet with German sailors Annina Wagner/Marlene Steinherr (PYC) with second place overall for French team Camille Lecointre/ Mathilde Geron (Vecteur +) and third place for British sailors Sophie Weguelin/ Sophie Ainsworth (WPNSA).
Spanish sisters Lucía and Fátima Reyes (RCR Cartagena) are first and second overall in the Laser Radial. Third place overall is for Finnish competitor Tuula Tenkanen (Vestek).
British team John Pink/Rick Peacock (Allen) are the leaders in the 49er followed by the European silver medallists in second place Federico & Arturo Alonso (Alfa Romeo) from Spain and third place is for British team Dave Evans /Simon Hiscocks (wpnsa).
