Eurocat will take place in Carnac this year over 1-3 May. 300 crews are expected for this famous cat event which will have a special place this year following the ISAF's strange decision to exclude the sports catamaran from the Olympic Games.
For more than 20 years, the Eurocat has established itself as the essential gathering of sports catamarans in France. This event brings together all the existing production boats and is one of the only event of this scale to combine round the cans and long distance races. No doubt that after the absurd decision of the ISAF, all the catamaran fans, boths pros and amateurs, will rally and send a strong sign by making this event a symbol of the dynamism of sailing on sports multihulls.
New for 2009, the organisation has decided to lower the registration fees for the young crews and to work on the maximization of the regatta length and the strengthening of the warmth of the event.
Finally, for the F18, the Eurocat will be the first event of the French 'Classic Tour
Championship' and in particular will be the first show down between the new Hobie Cat
F18 and the new F18 drawn by Yves Loday. (Read more about these here).
For the accompanying persons and the spectators, there will be many activities ashore including a climbing wall, a sea market, an inflatable castle for the children, a skateboard show by professionals as well as first timers, a show of sea rescue dogs, activities organised by students, a bar where a slide show of the day will be shown…
Registration are opened on line on the new Yacht Club de Carnac website.
