Italian Andrea Bonezzi is dominating the Contender class during the 120th Travemuende Week. At the Pre-World’s he was trailed by Australian Jono Neate and German Jan von der Bank. Holger Suesse and Frank Bender leave Travemuende for Cologne as champions in the Dyas class. Likewise the trio Roderich Uerlichs/Michael Buenten/Franz Stoffels in the Trias class. After the first two races of the Olympic Laser Radial the German Sebastian Buehler is leading in front of his compatriots Helge Bochmann and Florian Haufe in a mixed field.
Due to thunderstorms forecasted in the morning all starts were initially postponed, but by midday varying weather conditions allowed races on all course areas. The multiple Contender World Champion Bonezzi crowned himself the king of Travemuende by winning the final race ahead of his strongest competitors. Furthermore, he achieved his objective of getting back up to the top of the Contender class with a view of winning the next World Championship.
Just before the finish line the Australian Jono Neate overtook German Jan von der Bank and the order of this final race became the same as the overall results. The Pre-Worlds showed that the fleet is already well prepared for their World Championship to be held in Sønderbor, Denmark at the end of July.
