The ISAF Athletes' Commission has launched a new online forum giving Olympic sailors all over the world a chance to have their say on the issues affecting the sport.
The Athletes' Commission reports directly to the ISAF Executive Committee, with its members representing the athletes in each of the Olympic events. The aim of the new ISAF Athletes' Commission Forum is to host online debates on key topics. The Athletes' Commission members will be moderators for the Forum, with the initial topics planned to be:
- ISAF Sailing World Cup series
- ISAF World Sailing Rankings
- Racing Rules of Sailing and Regulations
- Communications and Marketing
- Olympic Games
- Submissions
Marcelien De Koning (NED), silver medallist at the Beijing Olympic Games and chairman of the ISAF Athletes' Commission, said: "The ISAF Athletes' Commission Forum gives a chance for all Olympic sailors to have their say direct to the Commission members. As an open Forum it's also an opportunity for everyone to see the key issues affecting Olympic sailors around the world. We hope the Forum will grow to become a central tool informing the work of the ISAF Athletes' Commission."
As part of her role as chairman of the ISAF Athletes' Commission, De Koning will be in Madrid, Spain on 7 November to deliver a report to the ISAF Executive Committee during their opening meeting at the ISAF Annual Conference. This will enable the view of the Athletes' Commission to then be carried through to the various ISAF Committees.
The ISAF Athletes' Commission Forum is open to view by anyone. However, only Registered Members will be able to post and reply to topics. In order to Register you must have an ISAF Sailor ID and be listed on the ISAF World Sailing Rankings.
