RYA Women’s Dinghy Championships cancelled

Queen Mary suffers from Foot and Mouth decisions

Due to the current closure of the host venue Queen Mary Sailing Club as a result of the investigation into suspected foot and mouth disease in the vicinity, the RYA has regrettably decided to cancel its 2007 Women’s Dinghy Championships, scheduled for 13-14 October.

Although the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) has lifted government restrictions on access, Thames Water has not yet given permission for the Queen Mary Reservoir to be re-opened.

With this continued uncertainty surrounding the re-opening of the venue, the RYA, in conjunction with QMSC, has taken this early decision to avoid any unnecessary cost or inconvenience to prospective competitors or personnel involved in the running of the event.

The RYA will make every effort to directly contact entrants and all others involved with the event in order to arrange reimbursement of costs.
