15 knots but no racing

The seventh day of the Laser World Championship in Jeju, Korea saw the fleet in the unusual situation of having 15 knot winds but unable to race.
A morning north westerly wind of 12 knots was present just after the race committee had set the course for the first race of the day. The fleet were held afloat for ninety minutes to wait for the forecast easterly wind to arrive before being sent ashore to get out of the hot sun.
Two hours later they were called afloat as a 15 knot south easterly breeze built across the course area. Once again the wind gods played tricks when the south easterly was forced off the course area by the surprising arrival of a stronger north westerly wind blowing against a building westerly ground swell.
The 15 knot north westerly was inconsistent in both strength and direction. The race committee tried in vain to set a course as the wind swung through 140 degrees at random on different parts of the course area but eventually had to give up and send the fleet ashore for the day.
One day remains with an early start of 0900 scheduled in a last ditch attempt to put some more races on the score sheet.
