The organisers of the 29th Zwitserleven Round Texel Race have announced a new website in English

On Friday 10 March 2006, the organization of the Round Texel Race introduced the English version of its new website www.roundtexel.com. This active news portal will see to an optimum coverage of world’s biggest cat race on Saturday June 17th 2006. Before and during the Round Texel Week, the content will be up to date as well, due to extensive possibilities of supplying information. Participants can subscribe online from March 2nd. As of April, sailors can use the online Community Forum for sharing their thoughts and knowledge about the race and cat sailing.

“Within the available finances, a very efficient product has been realized”, said Round Texel Co-ordinator Edwin Lodder enthusiastically. Visitors will be informed continuously with the help of news flashes, background stories, short interviews, updates, interim results and the latest images. The structure of the website is flexible, which enables the expension with real-time streaming media.

During the winter, Yamaha Nederland has become silver sponsor of the Zwitserleven Round Texel Race. The company provides the pr-team with press boats and it supports the rescue division in several areas. Title sponsor Zwitserleven renewed its three-year-old contract with another two years.

On Saturday 17 June 2006, the starting signal of the 29th Zwitserleven Round Texel Race will be given at about 12:00 a.m. From Wednesday 14 until Friday 16 June, competitors can already scout the sailing area during the Texel Dutch Open. This championship consists of course races. Many sailors consider it as a training for the ‘biggest cat race’ on Saturday. In addition, the Royal Dutch Sailing Federation has officially recognized the event as an Open Dutch Championship.

On Thursday afternoon, people can traditionally sail the ‘Horstocht’. During the Round Texel Week an extensive program offers relaxation on the Texel beach. The promo area will return as well. This is the place to be for everybody who wants to learn more about cat sailing. They will find there the latest equipment and clothing.

In addition to Zwitserleven, the Round Texel Race will also be sponsored by TNG Swiss Watches, Repeat Sales Promotions, W&H/Liebherr, Software AG, Yamaha Nederland, Nissan, Teso, VVV Texel, TROS, RoT Events, the Mondriaan Onderwijsgroep, the Meeuw and the Provincie Noord-Holland.
