Twenty Supernovas took part in the open meeting and traveler series at Wimbleball Lake on Exmoor on the 29 April. A warm day with Light and fluky winds provided some testing sailing on the picturesque lake.
Race one started with a steady breeze, Exe sailing club member Leslie Arscott took the lead after the long beat and held off strong competition from the Hawley brother. Leslie Finished in first, Steve second, Chris third and David Everett in fourth.
Race two provided very light winds with local sailor Geoff Curtis holding the lead throughout the race. Allan Simmons and Chris Hawley both strived for lead position but Geoff held them off with his local knowledge in tricky winds giving him first place, Simmons took second, Chris Hawley third and Arscott fourth.
The very light wind continued for the start of the final race. Severn’s Grant Brown and Steve Hawley chased Leslie Arscott but failed to take his lead, the changing conditions caused a continuous changing of positions with local sailor Simon Jones moving from the rear of the fleet to fourth place, Arscott took first with Steve Hawley second and Grant Brown third.
Results:
1-Leslie Arscott (Exe SC)
2-Steve Hawley (Severn SC)
3-Chris Hawley (Severn SC)
4-Allan Simmons (Lancing SC)
5-Grant Brown (Severn SC).
