Near perfect conditions greeted the 15 Larks from as far away as Waldringfield for the Lark Youth Championships.
In the first race Kelsey Suggitt crewed by Richard Bennett from Barnt Green S.C. made the best of the start. This she held for most of the race with only David Marlow crewed by Ben Biglin from Northampton S.C. managing to break away from the following group. Eventually he managed to get passed to win the race with Chris White and Nicola Booth from South Staffs S.C. moving into third.
Race two saw Stephen Videlo, last year's winner, crewed by Will Branton, from Waldringfield S.C. make no mistake off the start line and were soon in front. They were chased hard by Ed Bradburn and Lucy Evans from South Staffs but they failed to get passed so had to settle for second. White and Booth sailed a strong race to take third with Marlow and Biglin coming in fourth.
This made the event wide open and the calculations showed that any one of the first five could win In the last race Bradburn and Evans rounded first and with both Videlo and Branton and Marlow and Biglin being buried in the fleet, they never looked as though they would be able to catch the leading group. Suggitt and Bennett had to fight hard to get passed Will Croxford and Kate Phillips from South Staffs but could not catch Bradburn and Evans who won the race easily, which also gave them the event.
A really great day's sailing was enjoyed by all and the prize winners can now be seen proudly wearing their Lark polo shirts kindly donated by the Association in the form of supplementary prizes.
