First win for Turner

At the 18ft skiffs' Queen of the Harbour race

70 years of tradition continued on Sydney Harbour on Sunday when the Australian 18 Footers League conducted the annual Queen of the Harbour race for 18ft Skiffs.

Young Joe Turner scored his first win since joining the 18 footer ranks only two months ago when he piloted Noakes Youth to victory over Tony Hannan's Maytag. Noakes Youth led all the way to record a 53secs win.

John Sweeny's Active Air finished a further 1min 34secs further back in third place.
