Dave Ovington dies

Tragic news for the sailing community

It is with great sadness that we have to report the sudden death of Newcastle-based boat builder Dave Ovington.

Dave, 50, was with his family, motorboating in the Lake District on Sunday, when he was taken ill.

Dave first stepped foot in a boat aged 14 and set up his boat building business at the age of 21. Ovington Boats today is the builder of high performance boats such as the 29er, 49er, B14, International 14, 18 foot Skiff, Musto Skiff, Flying Fifteen and the Mumm 30.

Our thoughts are with his wife, Glynis, his two sons Adam (20) and Matt (17), his friends and the staff at Ovington Boats.
