Fast sails for fast boats
Thursday July 28th 2005, Author: Jay Glaser, Location: United Kingdom
Glaser Sails will focus on high-performance one-design sails for catamarans, dinghies, and sportboats. Formerly an owner of Danger Sails and Ullman Sails, Inc., Jay has designed and built sails that have won Olympic medals in the Tornado class; World Championships in the 505, International 14, Tornado and A-Class Catamaran classes as well as national and continental titles in the Ultimate 20, Tornado, F18HT and Prindle classes. Jay combines his success as a sailor (Olympic silver medallist, twice World Tornado champion, and A Class catamaran North American champion) with 30 years of sailmaking experience.
The Glaser Sails approach to speed is simple: "We combine the latest technology and materials with our affinity for high performance small boats to give our customers the fastest sails and the best service," says Jay. Jay is joined in Glaser Sails by his wife, Pease. She is also an Olympic silver medalist (470) and an A Class Catamaran North American champ. Sailing together, they have won three Tornado North American and two National titles. Jay's notable successes have included making sails in the Tornado class (silver medal, Athens 2004) and the 505 class (sails finished first, second, third and fourth in the 2004 Worlds).
Jay and Pease also offer top-level private and group coaching for dinghy, multihull, and keelboat sailors. Jay Glaser was named 2000 National Coach of the Year by the U.S. Olympic Committee. Most recently, Jay has coached teams that finished second and seventh in the 2004 Olympic Games (Tornado); and teams who finished second, third, and fourth at the 2005 505 World Championship. Pease has recently coached winning match-racing teams as well as dinghy and multihull sailors.
