2.4mR Worlds begin

The 2.4mR World Championship 2005 will begin tomorrow in Marciana Marina, Elba island, Italy.
Monday's schedule of the event held by Circolo della Vela Marciana Marina with the main sponsorship of Kia Motors include measurement and registration of competitors, a fleet of over 80 sailors representing Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Netherlands,Czech, Republic, Sweden, UK, USA.
Danny McCoy, disabled sailor and president of the International 2.4mR Class Association will compete in the event and the fleet include many other sailors such as the 2004 World Champion the Swedish Stellan Berling and the winner of 2004 Queen Silvia Cup (best disabled sailor), the Brit Helena Lucas and the Finn Marko Dahlberg, twice World Champion in the past years.
On Tuesday 20th September a tune up race will start at hrs. 15.30 and at hrs.19.30 the Opening Ceremony is scheduled in the Piazza Bonanno with presidente od CVMM Piero Canovai and local authorities
The event is held in under the patronage of Comitato Italiano Paralimpico, the municipal authorities of Marciana Marina, Tuscany district, APT Agenzia per il Turismo dell'Arcipelago Toscano, Ente Parco Nazionale dell'Arcipelago Toscano and Associazione Albergatori Isola d'Elba.
