Lights winds and sunshine only allowed two races last weekend at the SCHÜCO (www.schueco.com) International Open Argentine Soling Championship. The biggest soling fleet since the 70’s had to see a race abandoned this Sunday while the first boat failed by 1 min to finish the single race started with a northeast breeze who went to north and east never being more than 5 knots.
Team Souther Winds ARG 34 with Martin Busch, Pablo Noceti and Ezequiel Mendonça won the Championship with 4 points after a third and first places in the two races over ARG 341 with Lucas Gonzalez Smith.
Luis Alvarez who had a scored a first and a fourth with his Elvstrom '75, this places them as favourites to win the ARG 1 Classic trophy for boats built before January first of 1980.
The twice World Champion ARG 32 Gustavo Warburg, Hernan Celedoni and Maximo Smith didn’t have a good combination of results during this weekend, after placing a second and a sixth what leaves them third in the overall results.
The 16 boat fleet racing for the Schuco Trophy will rest and hope that next weekend “Eolo” allows at least three races to finish the championship.
