American Paige Railey (above) was the clear winner at the Laser Radial European Championship after racing was abandoned today, however the European title went to France's Sarah Steyaert, who finished three points ahead of Finland's former Europe Olympian Sari Multala.
At 1300 on this last day of racing the sailors were sent afloat, but due to a weak wind they were returned ashore reletively quickly. After a week of sailling the fleet managed to complete eight races.
The regatta was a series of ups and downs for the British sailors. Lizzie Vickers finished 12th overall and ninth among the European competitors. “It was a really tough regatta with unpredictable weather and only three days of racing," she said. "This event taught me how important it is to stay focused and to not give up even when you have a bad day. My goal at this event was to finish in the top fifteen and I have done that so now I can focus on doing well at the worlds in December.”
