Endeavour Trophy sailors take to the River Crouch

Friday October 7th 2005, Author: Andy Nicholson, Location: United Kingdom
Twenty three of the crews competing at the Endeavour Trophy this weekend have taken to the water this afternoon to get some time in on the Topper Xenon.

Today, the coaching day sponsored by commercial training outfit TNG, started off with sailing coach Harvey Hilary running through the detail before all sailors being let loose on the Xenon.

Paul Goodison, one the favourites for the trophy, has come clean about his crew for the weekend and it is none other than Saskia Clark! Clark is now Christina Basadone’s crew in the 470; the pair have their sights on the British slot for the Beijing Games.

All the more interesting is that Nick Craig, the defending champion, has been unable to get to Burnham today and so will miss out any familiarisation the other competitors will be getting on the Xenon.

A last entry has been received from the Cherub representatives, Ben Brown and Darryl Wilkinson, bring the total fleet to 26 in number.
