Little Cow wins Shuco Argentine Soling Championships

After a tough weekend with 5 races in total raced - three on Saturday and two this Sunday the Schüco Trophy went to ARG 32 also named “little cow looking for sponsor” the team who won already two World Championships: one in 2001 in their home waters and the 2004 the last one sailed.

Second place went to Southern Winds team with (ARG 34) Martin Busch, Pablo Noceti and Ezequiel Mendonça who sailed Sunday’s first race into a first and lost a typical Match Race battle in the last regatta against “Little Cow” team loosing also the possibility to win the fourth time the Argentine title.

Third place went to Lucas Smith , Luis Alvarez and F. Rosado the Laser team who came to the Soling Class and made an excellent debut, Lucas was the second Argentine ISAF ranked in the Laser Class before 2000 Olympic games and also for 2004 had a few words: “I had the opportunity to fall into this class were everybody helped me to tune the boat, showing me all little secrets and also better sails to improve my boat something it never happened to me in any other class, I’m quite happy and promise to come back”.

Team Next Windows – Schüco (ARG 30) sailed by Nottebohm , Tumulty and Ayerza after a great victory in the last race on Saturday came this Sunday and kept their average finishing fourth, benefit of an early disqualification of ARG 28 from Zanetti, Percossi and Rosas who did not followed the championship rules with the closed park to the boats each weekend.

Sunday were the day the international team USA 807 with Collins, Gibelli and Lagos had the chance to sail better and show why they hold for the second time the “Classic Trophy” sailing their 1969 Selcoat into the fifth place at the overall results.

The tale of the evening in a spectacular party offered by Schüco at the Club Nautico San Isidro with drinks, food, Soling videos and photos were when ARG 8 Ferdi Muller, Maria Muller and Ignacio Perez returned the “Classic Trophy” to USA 807 after receiving the one by mistake, but pictures were already taken…

A trophy not awarded for the prettiest boat for sure should be awarded if created to Robinson, Face and Robinson sailing the George (ARG 1) the red and shinny boat recently rebuilt also from a Selcoat 1969.

This Argentine Championship achieved the record to have 16 crews sailing the event, and that was only because the generosity of some owners who couldn’t sail but encourage other sailors to sail their boats, a record only acieved in the earlier days of the Soling Class in the 70'
