Top international sailors from around the world, sailing in a number of the Olympic classes are being sponsored by Tacktick and its international distributors in their pre-Olympic qualifying campaigns over the next four years. Many of the teams are racing this week at Hyeres in France at SOF, the French Olympic Week.
In the UK Tacktick are sponsoring Hugh Styles and Graham Vials in their Tornado Olympic 2008 campaign with a Micro Compass digital racing compass. The Micro Compass helps sailors understand wind shift patterns during racing by providing simple, precise and accurate wind shift and heading information. The instrument is a self-contained unit, which is both waterproof and wireless using solar energy to power it.
In the Olympic Star class, Tacktick are sponsoring the British duo Andy Beadsworth and David Carr with a Race Master in their Beijing Olympic campaign; early results from the sailors are promising with a sixth place in the 2005 Rolex Miami OCR Regatta in January 2005. The Race Master is a rugged, waterproof, stand alone tactical compass, designed to improve the performance of sports and keel boats.
In Italy, Tackticks’ Italian distributor, Synergy is sponsoring Gabrio Zandonà, the current 470 World Champion who recently won the “Beppe Croce Award” for being the most successful young sailor. Having not sailed with a Micro Compass before, Gabrio now says he ‘cannot sail without it!”
In the Netherlands, Sailtron, Tacktick’s Dutch distributor is sponsoring Team Coster, with helm Sven Coster and crew Kalle Coster in the 470. The Coster duo have already had a good start to 2005 winning the 470 Class in the Rolex Miami OCR in January 2005, coming 3rd in the Barcelona Olympic Sailing week in March and finishing 5th in the HRH Princess Sofia Trophy in Palma last month.
