Churchill's - Queen of the Harbour
Sunday March 20th 2005, Author: Frank Quealey, Location: Australasia
Churchill's Sports Bar took out the Queen of the Harbour race on Sydney Harbour today after leading the fleet for almost the entire course.
The Churchills team, led by John Sweeny, grabbed the lead following an early capsize by Rosemount and were never seriously challenged before crossing the finish line ahead by 20 seconds.
Computer Associates (Anthony Young) gained steadily throughout the race to take second placing with Hugh Stodart's Asko Appliances a further 1min 29secs back in third.
With Churchills holding a good lead throughout, the race for the minor placings kept the patrons on the spectator ferry on their toes as five to six skiffs staged a great battle.
