The other side of the bay

29ers now four races in to their National Championship

Both the 29er and 49er fleet are enjoying the hospitality of Paington Sailing Club in Torbay. The 29ers are racing from Saturday to Wednesday and the 49ers from Sunday to Wednesday, after which both fleets pack up and move to Copenhagen for the Europeans.

Saturdays races for the 29ers brought a solid if a little shiftily 10 knots and some very good racing. Sunday has been a different story, a very temperamental wind teased the race officers on both race tracks. The 29er fleet managed two races in the Brixham side of the bay but the 49ers on the Torquay side failed to complete a race due to vanishing wind or 180 shifts.

A cool nerve and head was needed in the conditions, Hue Humphrey and Max Todd head up the 29er fleet after four races closely followed by Ed Chapman & Tom Peel and Dylan Fletcher and Nick Holllis.
